Nets 3 – Exercise not paralyze!

Thursday evening at 6pm we hauled ourselves along to a different set of cricket nets, those to be found at Holland Park. To be honest, they are not of the highest quality. No markings to be found, the nets at the back half down and sagging and worst of all, it looked like there were tractor ruts at the bowling crease. However, that aside, we did manage to get a decent couple of hours of practice in.

Here follows my naff video ~ but slightly amusing.

Andrew Sewell Bowls
Andrew Sewell Bowls

Those present were Yuri [that’s me], Ilyeva Lunch Hour (Oli), Rob (still awaiting some naming!), Huds, Andrew and his son Owen and a passer by called Matt! Circulating through batting and bowling there were enough of us there to not paralyze ourselves for the next day!

Poor Rob ended up facing Matt, our visitor. He protested at years since he last bowled but soon was pummeling the body of Rob with a series of paced balls. Sorry Rob!

Huds
Huds

I want to introduce you all to Huds (Menhaj Huda – Huds!). He is new to the team and is a very good all rounder though he professes his bowling is where he is best. Looking at his handling of the bat, i know he will be a happy addition to the side.

STOP PRESS:
It seems that we may well be given a meeting place to hold gatherings, drinks and pre-match discussions: The Union Club on Greek Street. Although we have to cross the eyes and dot the Ts for the first meeting, they have very kindly agreed to give us a home – Yipppeee! More news to come.
