Friendly4 20-20

A full and interesting match report is yet to be filed by Brandonovski, who is captaining our 20/20 tournament – please call back. In the mean time, here are some Cobramovich stats and also some pictures!

 Cricketing Grandees!

1 round of matches down, 2 more to go: Both simultaneously-played double headers from now on – next Fri 6 June & then 11 July – and all at North Middx in Crouch End.  Please find full scorecards to date attached. There is a small mistake on scc v vcc as SCC no 10 Ileyva was actually out stumped on the last ball of innings, giving Maximus 3 wickets and VCC 9 in total rather than 8.
Here’s the full situation to date…
3. LMS MARTIANS 4 points (equal on runs, but ahead of Soho on no deductions imposed and less wickets lost)

30 May
VCC (185-7) beat Soho Cricket Collective (118-9) by 67 runs

VCC gain 14 points:
+15: 10 for win; 3 for 6’s (Atif 1, Maximus 2); 1 for 40+ batsman (Maximus, 48); 1 for 3 wickets by bowler (er, Maximus, again!)
-1:  Breach of league rule 6 regarding ‘witty sledging’ (and the Corinthian amateur spirit of league) by Martin ‘Captain Lavender’ Stockman, in shouting to his fielders “Well done Currymen, we’re doing a nice professional job on them”. The words ‘professional’ and ‘job’ are of course completely unacceptable, reeking as they do of modern win at all costs corporate sport.
Soho gain 4 points:
+ 5: 3 for 100+ by losing team; 1 for 6’s  (Hodderov 1); 1 for 40+ (Hodderov, 51 n.o. / retired)
-1:  For a combination of minor breaches of league rules 7 & 8 by  vice-captain Jontin Savittski – alleged dissent (brooding/glowering?) while batting and sporting a green ‘designer’ ‘cricket’ jumper.

MATCH REPORT – Grace Cup Tournament

Chipmunkski
Chipmunkski

All games out of 4 lost.
Last place of 4

Once more we grace the fields of Roehampton. Fields which are as flat as a billiard table, wickets as tended as a maidens vizog. The bacon baps and coffee were laid for us to devour and the reception was warm. Our team this year was new blood, Hodderofski, Yuri, Sewelski, Chipmunkski, Cobramovich, Soldya and of course, Yankheroff! What a line up. The opposition against us were: Deutsche Bank, Slaughter and May, Osborne Clarke and Willis.

What follows now is some random stats. The reason is I couldn’t photograph all of the score sheets for the matches and so I am relying on fond memories of the day by the players. Self verification required, comrades!

Beer?

From Soldyai got one wicket – caught T.Richardson. Runs – am trying to remember…didn’t get any 4s or 6s – got about 6 runs in the last game and only 1 or 2 in the others I think – maybe 12 runs in total???

Booby Duck

From Cobramovich: I only batted in the 2 matches you don’t have. As I walked in after succumbing, the scorers announced me as scoring 13 in the first of these, and 17 in the final one. (2 fours in the later innings). I also got a catch in the first match off Hodderov’s bowling, but no wickets bowling.

From Hodderoffski: 1st Match – 12 runs (not out), 2nd Match – 4 runs (run out), 1 wicket (caught, Cobramovich), 3rd Match – DNB, 1 wicket (bowled), 4th Match – 1 run,  1 wicket (caught and bowled) – 1×6=scored

So comrades, please pay it some heed next season as it truly is good fun and we are able to do a lot of good work for a good cause. Thank you!

MATCH REPORT – PSCC v SCC 17th May 2014

Altmananov and Thomas Pedeez

Penn Street is always a good game to start the season and this year was no different. Weather was sufficiently dry and it brightened up as the evening wore on. I undertook a big gamble by bringing Kate and the twins along and may I say, how lovely and supportive everyone was. Hats off to Comrade Altmananov for performing top baby management with a very dribbly Thomas.

PSCC batted first and the wicket which was not very dry and still had a scent of British Spring to it. Our bowling commenced not too badly, myself and Yankheroff starting okay. The latter with 39 off 8 overs – good work, comrade. I was 43 off 9 with a wicket maiden and 2 wickets (that felt nice) – Reevey and Smith, both high on the off stump.

Samovar and Soldya performing like a beautiful duet and the latter catching Sutherland. How reassuring to get stuck into the top three wickets for 95.  Chipmunkski was up for 2 wickets, an catch from Jontin and a clean bowled too. Nib Nib Nib, comrade~! Then shortly after Jontin clean bowled Armiger to much jubilation.

We did our best and had the overs complete for tea at half four. They had notched up a sturdy 225 runs and we knew then that a draw was probably the best option to play for. Shame!

It’s all over

In bat, Mullertov and Soldya made not a bad opening. Soldya of course had his eye on his taxi that was waiting to take him into town so perhaps that opened up his style and he was out caught for 5. Highest scorers were Mullertov and Cobramovich at 20 and 19 respectively. 60 balls face by Cobramovich so a good draw making eye.

Chipmunkski has benefited from winter nets and was respectable at 12 off 44 balls. Good and solid work. The rest of us fell to some excellent bowling but I felt that in all, the SCC is improving with the bat – Good work comrades.
